My Personality Type and Finding Yours

Have you ever wondered what your personality is and how close it matches how and why you do certain things?

I’ve taken psychology and sociology classes in high school and in college and it never really dawned on me until the last few years what makes me tick.

I took the Myers Briggs test and figured out what personality type I am.

The Myers Briggs tests was developed by  Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers and it’s purpose was to make the theory of psychological types described by C. G. Jung understandable and useful in people’s lives.

They use 8 words in four categories that make up 16 different personality types.

Check out this infographic I found.

Here’s an infographic to check out the short descriptive of each personality type.

There are several Myers-Briggs tests out there on the interwebs, I’ve chosen this one from 16 personalities, it is free but there is an option for you to get a special report to purchase.  Personally, I didn’t choose that option.

Anyway, here are my results.

I am ISFJ otherwise known as: nurturer, protector or defender. What the heck does that mean. If you take a gander above that means I’m, Introverted, Sensing, Feeling and Judging.

What that basically means is that I’m one of those people who believes the best in everyone, I’m kind hearted, warm (and we’re not talking about my internal temperature here). I value harmony and cooperation and sensitive to other people’s feelings.  More likely if you hurt my feelings I will be crushed. No joke. I will probably cry about it for a few days. I can’t brush crap off. I am not a duck. Though some days I wish I could be a duck.

I also constantly take in information about people and situations that is personally important to them, and store it away. That means, usually, if you tell me your birthday or some other random fact, I will remember it. 8 times out of 10. That is if I’m not sleep deprived. For example, I can probably list off all the important people in my life’s birthdays right now if I had to. Anniversaries too.I’m good with numbers for the most part. Your favorite color. Your favorite candy. My best friends favorite candy, B-Mike and Ikes, Laura…crap…umm chocolate in general…and Skittles!!! Cathy…anything that’s not chocolate. See? Maybe that was a bad example. But none the less, I remembered it!

I could probably go on and on about ISFJ, but that would probably bore you. If you want to read about it more because you are that type check out this link or this one. I will say the more information I read about my personality type it scares me how dead on it is.

I think knowing what personality type people you are close with will help you understand why they are they way they are. Also, you can see what other people are the same as you. For example…

You can see what Harry Potter character you are. Yep, I went there. Also, John H. Watson from Sherlock and, and Samwise Gamgee from The Lord of the Rings. You had to see that one coming though. Also, you can see what real people are like you. Like, Mother Teresa, Johnny Carson, Queen Elizabeth II, and so many others.

Take a Myers-Briggs test for yourself and share what personality type it says you are and does it describe you at all?

    1. Yay! I like Hagrid. I feel like sometimes I’m more like him than I am with my own character (Neville). Thanks for sharing your personality. 🙂
