A few months ago, maybe it was only two…I can’t keep track..the sleep thing, I don’t get enough of it. Anywho. Some time ago, we purchased a Hemnes TV unit from Ikea.
We bought it because a.) our little chunky monkey was always crawling behind and through the one we had previously…which looked like this…
we were running out of space for our DVD’s our little munchkin was reeking havoc on our DVDs. So time for a new stand. We opted for the bigger bookshelves on the side instead of the small ones that are shown in the picture.
With the bigger bookshelves leaves a bit more space for books, games and decorations. We left to bottom two shelves empty, because let’s face it, Chunky Monkey is still not done taking things off shelves. I had a few things on my shelves that I’ve pulled from other places in our house but felt that the shelves needed a bit more.
I bring you painted mason jar vases.
We have a ton of these lying around and I have a ton of paint lying around. But if you don’t have these things, grab one or two or three mason jars, they have them at Michael’s for 99 cents or you can get them in a pack at Walmart. Grab some acrylic paint of your favorite color. And start painting!
These are the colors I used, I got them both at Walmart.
Once they’re dry, toss in your favorite bouquet of fake or real flowers and maybe some battery operated lights to make it more snazzy. I was going to put some in ours but I couldn’t find any at Michael’s.
I got my flowers from Michael’s, they were pre-made and they were 50%!! Woot!!
This was super simple to do and pretty cheap too, if you have most of the supplies already on hand.
