Painted Wood Bead Necklace Tutorial

I don’t do a lot of crafts for obvious reasons ( children, homeschooling said children, household duties, etc), so when I do get a chance to make something crafty, it’s gotta be easy with little to no mess.

Which brings me to this post on a super fun and cute jewelry craft.

The inspiration for this craft came from my browsing around Pinterest looking for crafts that I may actually make some day. I’ve had the materials for this in my stash of things in our classroom for months, but I just never had the time to sit down and create this necklace. Until recently.

Materials needed:

wooden beads ( any size or shape)

acrylic paints ( any colors you like)

paint brush

leather cording for necklace

masking tape (optional)

Here’s where your creative side comes in. You can choose how you want your beads to turn out. You can use some masking tape to mask off parts that you don’t want painted, paint them a solid color or if you’re really talented, you can paint cool designs on them. I’m not that talented in the drawing department, I went the easy route and made my beads pretty simple.

Basically all you’re doing is painting these little beads to your liking and stringing them on your leather cord. I found that putting the beads on some kid sized paint brushes to hold them while painting is easier than holding them with your hands and messing up the pretty paint.

That’s all there is to it. Just paint however you want the beads to look. Let them dry. Finally, string them on your leather cord and tie it.
